CM Gupta made it very clear that any illegal construction endangering citizen safety will not be tolerated in the national capital, and action against rule violators will continue without discrimination.

According to the CM, the Delhi government prioritizes citizen safety. In light of recent accidents and building safety-related incidents reported across the country and the capital, the government issued clear directions to enforcement agencies to ensure immediate action wherever violations of building by-laws, fire safety norms or approved construction standards are found.

She emphasized that her government is not only acting against illegal constructions, but is also working to develop a system that can effectively curb such dangerous and unauthorised constructions in the future.

The objective is to ensure that no building, commercial establishment or public-use facility operates in Delhi if it poses a risk to people’s lives and property, she added.

During Sunday’s inspections in the Khanpur and Sainik Farm areas, officials inspected constructions found to be in violation of prescribed norms and approved plans.

Gupta said the government is also working on long-term building safety reforms that will require building owners to comply with safety standards.

Meanwhile, Malviya Nagar MLA and Delhi Jal Board Vice Chairman Satish Upadhyay said that considering recent building collapses and fires, the administration is continuously taking action to prevent such incidents in the future.

Wherever illegal construction, irregular construction activity or violations of prescribed building standards are found, action is being taken in accordance with the rules, he added.
